A place called Chiapas - screening

20 people attended the first screening for this year and introduction to the Zapatista Solidarity Group at the University of Essex. The group presented the documentary "A place called Chiapas" by the Canadian journalist Nettie Wild. The movie was accompanied by a short talk on several issues related to the struggle of the Zapatista communities and especially on the paramilitary attacks and threats carried out in the recent months.

What we stand for

We stand in solidarity with the Zapatista movement in Mexico and its peoples' struggle for dignity, land, education, human rights and end of the exploitation. Their enemies are our enemies - the big corporations exploiting Earth's reasources for the benefit of few, the oppresive governments and their neoliberal agenda, bringing war, destruction and poverty not just to the indigenous peoples in Mexico but to humanity in general. We are students, workers, lecturers and we believe that injustice should be fought and it's us who must do it. Another world is possible!
